Dirge of Cerberus

Dirge of Cerberus is the long awaited playable sequel to the game that modernized RPGs everywhere, Final Fantasy VII. Dirge of Cerberus unfortunately won’t be coming out this year, but never fear, it’s set for release in 2006 and it’s not that far away. The game is set three years after the events of Final Fantasy VII and one year after the events that take place in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

To everyone’s relief, it is not Cloud who is the lead protagonist, but the mysterious man cloaked in shadow himself, Vincent Valentine; the once lover of Lucrecia and victim of Dr. Hojo’s syringe of Jenova cells.

In Dirge of Cerberus, the central conflict seems to revolve around a stealthy group known as the Deep Ground Soldiers. Raiding towns, this band of warriors were driven to the confines of the earth due to the Meteor. And in some yet to be revealed way, Vincent is connected to the Deep Gound Soldiers.

In this sequel, Vincent will not be alone. Old friends and new allies with be at his side when he, the dark and unlikely hero, storms out into the world to save it from the coming evil. In the darkness of despair, it will be the dirge of Vincent’s revolver that will ring out into the night.
