Final Fantasy XI gil-sellers banned

Monday, February 13th, 2006

SquareEnix has removed more than 700 accounts on the Final Fantasy XI servers. The accounts have been linked to "real money traiding" where the accounts are used to make larger amounts of gil which is then sold on. This marks the end of a long investigation. "Thanks to these measures, more than 300 billion gil has been removed from circulation, and the overly inflated prices of items have begun to fall to more realistic levels," said the developer in a statement.

SquareEnix have clearly got their work cut out for them as a quick search on Google, Yahoo! and MSN shows there are lots of online stores still happy to sell you gil in amounts between 1, 000 and 10, 000 for up to $175, and with 24 hour in-game delivery.

PlayStation Network and More

Friday, February 3rd, 2006

After much secret wraps, the Official PlayStation Magazine (PSM) has brought out more details concerning Sony’s next generation Console, PlayStation 3. Stated within the article gives information on Sony’s approach to XBox Live, PlayStation Network! What is PlayStation Network, it is the online service to rival XBox Live by not only being a Sony related network, but offering much more. Current details stat the service will include an “iTunes-type store that lets you download films and music, and you’ll be able to use the console as a Location Free Player”- EuroGamer.

So cool, but what else? Adding to the excitement of the online service came further details of the PS3 acting like a video recorder like a TiVo recorder for example. What does that mean? When watching TV, you can then use your PlayStation 3 to record that show and watch it whenever. In addition, you will have the power to use your PSP to control the DVR function.

Even more great news states that even though the PS3 will be using Blu-Ray discs, it seems that the Cell and RSX can take control most of the time, thus the price shouldn’t be pushed too much as people have anticipated. Even more details state that the Development kits are running faster than expected and there are MANY games in development. Release Date? Due to recent hintsSony has told developers to be prepared for Fall 2006, hinting the USA release is late 2006.
